Hey, I’m Vihan and I’m currently in grade 12 and I want to start by telling you all this quote ” Never doubt that a young group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world, indeed it is the only one that ever has” We must take responsibility to protect our earth and all of its species that have faced turmoil due to us, and I have taken up this challenge to inspire the youth across and help them attain a more environment-friendly lifestyle. 

The name ‘Whalewatch’ might sound a bit misleading, but I was inspired to start this movement, this very agenda to save the earth by watching a documentary on the endangerment of whales and the history of humankind killing millions of these species. On that very day, I told myself that I want to be part of a moment that gives hope to another living being and help them survive this age of cruelty, and that’s how ‘Whalewatch’ was born. Here the term ‘watch’ has the purpose of us watching over them, protecting them, and providing them a sense of safety. Once this drive in me took off it only got me to realize the unspoken truth of fate for hundreds of animals and how our planet is dying. I knew what I wanted to do with my life, this passion drives me and I strive to provide a promising future. 

My dream is to work for the United Nations and the UNEP, to me, that’s a place where I feel like I can make the maximum contribution and help the environment on an international scale. I ‘am currently working towards getting into a law college and then specialize in international law to get exposure to how the UN works. I also want to do a postgraduate in environmental sciences later on.

Another page that you will see here is ‘Araa crisis resources’ which is an information and motivational page for Mental health. Today many people, especially concerning teenagers are going through mental distress and feel very isolated or alone due to the stigma created around it. I just want to be able to create a safe place and provide as many resources as possible. People must know that there is so much to look forward to and everyone deserves happiness. I think a phrase that always keeps me calm is ‘This too shall pass and it surely does. There is always light at the end of the tunnel, and I want to help those in need. To have environmental justice, we must have social justice.

Please know that everyone is welcome to volunteer and help the organization however they can. I believe that a bigger team can make a bigger difference.
